Eissturmvogel An (at least for me) unexpected sign of life from Solblot and a good one, too. Melancholic, melodic and perfectly suited to enjoy it in autumn (combined with a dram of good single malt). Favorite track: En spelmans jordafärd.

M Never before have I heard works by Dan Andersson performed with such dignity, Solblot is truly a treasure for anyone with a passion for Swedish poetry and neofolk. Favorite track: Natt.

mustaschen Having awaited the return of Solblot I was very pleased to see this being released. Overall it feels like a new take on the project that Solblot initiated with their first album: reimagined Swedish poetry. They audibly recontextualize known poetry and give it a texture and feeling beyond what actually was. A reimagined past, with equal parts warmth and unease. A haunting and Swede-ish take on neofolk, with emphasis on the folk. Late night music for getting lost in the woods. Favorite track: Natt.

about

Så tyst och så hög och med sång i sin blick
som en drömmarnas konung ibland oss han gick.
Och vi såg hur han stred och led och förbrann
och ingen vart älskad av oss såsom han.

about

Solblot Sweden

With simple means we want to portray a kind of musical straight forwardness and devotion before a polished and perfected presentation. The music it self is a visualisation of the tale and myth of Scandinavia which is coloured by nostalgia which by necessity puts its marks on that which has been. ... more
